POSITION TITLE: Sandwich Artist®
REPORTS TO: Restaurant Management (Restaurant Manager and Assistant Manager)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sandwich Artist® greets and serves guests, prepares products, maintains food safety and sanitation standards, and handles or processes light paperwork. Exceptional guest service is a major component of this position. **NOTE** The Sandwich Artist® is NOT ONLY a Cashier or JUST A SANDWICH MAKER
As part of the Subway® Team, you as a Sandwich Artist ® will focus on four main things:

● Preparing and serving great food.
● Keeping restaurants clean and beautiful.

Key parts of your day to day will consist of:
● Working with our Guests to knowledgeably recommend meal options and fulfill their orders from start to finish.
● Upholding food safety standards as you prepare and serve fresh food daily.
● Working with your teammates to keep all areas of the restaurant clean while maintaining a pleasant atmosphere for our Guests.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
● Provide service that is cheerful, helpful, and above and beyond for the guest while making subs, salad, protein bowls, wraps and more.
● Demonstrates a complete understanding of menu items and explains them to guests accurately.
● Provide food that meets SUBWAY’s specifications and high-quality standards.
● Handle customer concerns and complaints professionally and calmly to resolve problems according to SUBWAY's standards and policies.
● Food Safety, cleans, sanitization and maintains all areas of the restaurant to promote a clean image. Understands and adheres to the Wash, Rinse, and Sanitize method of cleaning. (Includes but not limited to washing dishes, cleaning restrooms, deep cleaning. cleaning equipment, sweeping, mopping, etc.)
● Set up of the store, including food preparation.
● Usage and Cleaning of power driven (electric) meat slicer (18 years old and above only)
● Prepare and Bake Bread (16 years old and above only)
● Prepare and Bake Cookies (16 years old and above only)
● Slice Fresh Veggies: Tomato, Cucumber, Onions, Green Peppers
● Prepare Meats, Veggies, Seasoning and Sauces.
● Labeling Products
● Uses Point of Sale system/cash register to record the order and compute the amount of the bill. Collects payment from guests, makes change, and ensure shortages do not happen.
● Performs Cash-In and Cash-Out Procedure- accounting for all forms of money, bread, etc., during the shift, beginning of the shift, and the end of the shift.
● Performs Food Temperature Logs to ensure all produces are safe to serve.
● Prepares food neatly, according to formula, and in a timely manner.
● Checks products in sandwich unit area and restocks items to ensure a sufficient supply throughout the shift at all times – every product available at all times.
● Understands and adheres to proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards during food preparation, service and clean up.
● Maintains a sanitary and safe restaurant by mopping, sweeping floors, removing trash, cleaning equipment, and keeping restrooms clean.
● Understands and adheres to all quality standards, formulas and procedures as outlined in the Subway® Operations Manual: Daily Procedures.
● Understand, Comply, and adheres to all portion sizes, formulas, quality standards, procedures as outlined in the Subway® Operations Manual, Steritech REV Guidebook and Health Department Standards
● Unload delivery truck supplies and place in the proper storage area
● Maintains a professional appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the Subway® Operations Manual and Team Member Handbook
● Performs light paperwork duties as assigned.
● Completes University of Subway® courses as directed.
● Trains newer or less experienced Sandwich Artists in their tasks and responsibilities
● Practices inventory control standards.
● Inspects equipment and storage facilities throughout a shift to ensure that equipment is in proper working order.
● Follow directives of Management Team and Operations Partner in execution of responsibilities
● You will receive training on your roles and responsibilities
PREREQUISITES:
Education: Some high school or equivalent.
Experience: No previous experience? No worries, we will train you to be a Sandwich Artist, Perfect restaurant job for high school students and college students!
REQUIREMENTS
● Must provide proof upon hire of legal status to work in the United States
● Must be at least 16 years old of age upon hire date.
● This is a customer contact position! must be able to communicate, read and write the English language.
● Sandwich Artist must be able to work in any area of the restaurant.
● Arrive on time for scheduled shift.
● Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance
● Must have a source(s) of reliable transportation to and from work.
● Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
● Ability to handle all equipment, pans, pots, navigating shelving both high and low.
● Reading, writing, and basic math and verbal communication skills required.
● Capability to read, ability to understand what is read
● Ability to politely and clearly communicate with co-workers, guests and managers
● Perform tasks at a pace that can keep up with the demands of the business.
● Customer service skills and the ability to interact with guests and co-workers on a consistent basis.
● Maintain personal hygiene standards and follows the SUBWAY® uniform guidelines.
● Maintain adherence to quality control standards.

● Mobility required during shifts.
● Must work will under pressure.
● Must be able to respond to changes or edits to orders quickly and efficiently.
● Must have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. unassisted occasionally.
● Bending, reaching, carrying, and stooping
● Ability to stand and walk for entire work shift.
● Use of cleaning chemicals such as Hand Soap, Dish Soap, Food Grade Sanitizer, Degreaser, Window Cleaner, Restroom Cleaner and more.

JOB HAZARDS:
Food preparation with slicers, potential slip hazards, working with/around bread ovens and toaster ovens and other potentially hazardous equipment, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:
The Sandwich Artist position physical demands require work in a restaurant/kitchen environment with moderate to loud noise levels, varying temperature conditions while performing the duties of the job. Sandwich Artist must be able to work in any area of the restaurant. the Sandwich Artist is regularly required to react quickly to deadlines, sometimes with little notice. The Sandwich Artist is often required to stand for long periods; standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, carrying and lifting, all generally involving moderate muscular strain in addition to seeing, hearing, and talking. Safely using all store food preparation equipment for long periods with the required application of eye, hand, ear, and finger dexterity. Must have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. unassisted occasionally. Periodic local travel required in normal course of job performance. May be required to use a stepladder. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Walk, move, traverse- The person in this position must have the ability to stand up to 12 hours, move about the
restaurant to access the dining room, prep area, restrooms, and dumpster area.
• Use hands/fingers to handle or feel operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, position. May use a register, slicer, knives, scissors, other machinery, and a computer.
• Climb (ladders) or balance, ascend/descend, work atop, traverse; occasionally ascends/descends a step ladder to
reach product on top shelves.
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, position self (to), move. Constantly positions self to maintain cleanliness of restaurant, including under the tables and prep areas. Also, to retrieve product.
• Talk/hear, communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information; the person in this position frequently communicates with fellow employees or guests. Must be able to exchange accurate
information in these situations.
• Taste/smell detect, distinguish, determine, not applicable.
• Carry weight, lift, move, transport, position, put, install, remove; frequently moves product, dishes, boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Exposure hot/cold. Constantly exposed to low temperatures in walk-in freezer and cooler. Constantly exposed to high heat in walk-in oven, or wall mounted ovens.
WORK ATTIRE:
The Sandwich Artist will provide their own pants/shorts/skirt. Pants must be full length (to the ankle) or capri (below the knee), while shorts/skirts must be knee length. Pants/shorts/skirts must be solid black, solid tan, solid blue denim, or solid black denim. Footwear must be closed-toe, closed-back sneakers. The Subway Uniform components are a Subway-logoed waist apron, Subway-logoed visor or baseball hat, name tag, and Subway-logoed shirt.

**NOTE** Openers will be scheduled up to 1 hour before opening time to prepare for the day. Closers will be scheduled up to 1 hour after closing time to clean the restaurant.
